8 To Depart As Pompey Announce Retained List

Portsmouth Football Club has today revealed its retained list, following the conclusion of the 2022/23 season.

The Blues ended their previous League One campaign in 8th position, 2 places and 7 points adrift of the Play-Off places.

This summer represents what is expected to be another big overhaul in the Pompey squad, after a 3rd consecutive year of failing to achieve a top 6 finish.

Both Head Coach John Mousinho and Sporting Director Rich Hughes are preparing to enter what will be their first full summer transfer window at the club and supporters are once again likely to see plenty of changes to the squad, with many incomings and outgoings between now and the start of the 2023/24 campaign.

Here is the retained list in full, as announced by Portsmouth Football Club earlier today:

Returning to Pompey following loan spell away:

  • Liam Vincent (Worthing)
  • Haji Mnoga (Aldershot Town)

Teenager Josh Dockerill has also been offered a first professional contract!

Rumours have circulated of Clark Robertson attracting interest from Derby County, whilst Northampton Town may be interested in taking Michael Jacobs back to Sixfields, though it must be made clear that these are nothing more than rumours at this stage.

Defender Di'Shon Bernard, who spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan at Fratton Park from Manchester United, is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer with Blues supporters seemingly keen to bring the 22-year-old back to PO4 on a permanent deal.

Pompey have so far been linked with Accrington Stanley's Tommy Leigh and Cardiff City's Gavin Whyte, though Chief Executive Andy Cullen has reiterated the club's stance on not announcing any new players until they can officially be registered as members of the squad on the 10th of June.
