Promising Blues shotstopper Toby Steward has penned a new deal to keep him contracted with the club until 2029.
The 21-year-old has also re-joined St Johnstone on loan for the 2026/27 campaign, during which they will compete in the Scottish Premiership.
St Johnstone were promoted to the top flight in Scotland last season after an incredible title-winning term in the second tier.
Steward was named in the Scottish Championship Team of the Year for 2025/26 after keeping 17 clean sheets, setting a new record in the division.
Back in 2022, the youngster signed his first professional contract on his 17th birthday and has since enjoyed loan spells at Bognor Regis Town, Salisbury, Gosport Borough, Tonbridge Angels, Wealdstone Crawley Town and the aforementioned St Johnstone, for whom he will run out for again this forthcoming campaign.
Pompey boss John Mousinho said in a club statement: "Toby enjoyed an excellent loan spell with St Johnstone last season and we're delighted with his development.
"It's no surprise that they wanted him back and we're pleased that he will now get a chance to test himself at a higher level.
"We have given Toby a new contract because we believe he has a very bright future in the game and I look forward to seeing how he performs during the 2026/27 campaign."
The goalkeeper's impressive form last term earned him the 'Cult Hero' award at St Johnstone's end of season awards night.
