1. FC Saarbrücken have signed Blues midfielder Abdoulaye Kamara on a permanent deal.

The 20-year-old only signed for Portsmouth last summer, arriving for an undisclosed fee from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.

Kamara has returned to Germany and signed for 1. FC Saarbrücken, who play in 3. Liga, the third tier of the country's footballing pyramid.

Following just 5 Championship appearances in Pompey colours (6 in all competitions), the former Paris Saint-Germain man was told at the end of last season by John Mousinho and the management team at Fratton Park that he would not be in the club's plans moving forward.

Defender Tom McIntyre was also informed of a similar fate but has yet to find a new club, meanwhile veteran winger Matt Ritchie has completed a move to League One side Reading following a dispute over the lack of proposed playing time not falling in line with his own personal expectations.

1. FC Saarbrücken sporting director Jürgen Luginger told the club's media team: "Abdoulaye is a very interesting player who has been trained at a high level from an early age.

"We are convinced that he will enrich our team and are delighted that he has chosen FCS."

Portsmouth Football Club have confirmed that the departure of Kamara comes following the agreement between player and club to mutually terminate the existing contract, which has allowed him to move on without the negotiation of a transfer fee.

Blues head coach John Mousinho said in an official club statement: "We thank Abdoulaye for his efforts last season and wish him well for the future. Hopefully he can now really push on and enjoy some regular first team football."
