What is a presenter read?

A Presenter Read is a short, ready-written on-air script giving key information about something happening on Express FM.

It’s designed to be read out live (or as-live) by presenters during their show - promoting upcoming content, highlighting what’s new or sharing important local information.

Presenter Reads can be submitted for:

• Show - an upcoming broadcast on Express FM
• Podcast - a podcast available now on the website
• Feature - a current or upcoming station feature
• Competition - a live or upcoming competition
• Local Information - something happening in or around Portsmouth

Keep it short, clear and conversational - just as it would sound on air.

What should I include?

• Content name - headline / title (what it’s about)
• Content type - category
• Presenter Read - the exact script for presenters to read
• Expiry Date - the final date it should be read on air

How should I write the Presenter Read?

Write it exactly as you’d expect to hear it on air:

• Conversational
• Informative
• As short and punchy as possible, as long as it needs to be
• Clear call to action
• Minimal fluff

Avoid long paragraphs - most reads should only take 15-30 seconds.

When presenting, as with any content, avoid sounding scripted and try to put into your own words wherever possible.

Examples:

"Remember, Pompey Live brings you All The Unmissable Action of every Blues game. This weekend, Portsmouth visit Millwall in the Championship.

It’s a 3pm kick-off and we’ll be coming direct from The Den. Join Jake Smith, Kirsty Roxanne and Glenn Turnbull from 2 this Saturday afternoon only on Portsmouth’s Express FM."
