We all like to think we’ve got a decent handle on everyday things… how much we spend, how long things take, how much energy we use.

But according to Denise Van Outen, most of us are way off.

In the latest episode of The MarshyCast, Denise joined me to talk about how Brits are getting their everyday “guesstimations” wrong… and how those small miscalculations can quietly add up to wasted time, money and unnecessary stress.

It’s a simple idea, but one that hits home. Whether it’s underestimating how long a task will take or overestimating how much something costs, those little guesses shape more of our daily lives than we realise.

Naturally, the conversation took a few fun turns along the way. We talked about her recent visit to Portsmouth, and our shared fascination with smart meters… which, in my case, might have gone slightly too far.

There was also a brilliant moment discussing Denise’s love of teapots, and how it ended up being a bit of a giveaway during her time on The Masked Singer.

But beyond the laughs, we also explored what’s next. Denise spoke about stepping into a new role as a DJ, bringing her energy and personality to a completely different stage… as well as her brand new single.

It’s a conversation that blends practical advice with personality, humour and a look at what’s next.
