Portsmouth's Express FM is once again joining forces with Pompey Poetry Party to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day next week.
Following a succesful collaboration for D-Day 80 last summer, the radio station and local arts collective are teaming up to bring poetry to the airwaves in tribute to this landmark occasion in local, national and world history.
Members of Pompey Poetry Party will share original works reflecting on peace, remembrance and the legacy of VE Day next Thursday (8th May).
Pompey Poetry Party co-founder, Caroline Brennan, (whose new weekly Express FM show Sunday Night Love launches this Sunday) said: "Pompey Poetry Party is proud to unveil a powerful new collection of poems to commemorate VE Day 80, celebrating the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who lived through the Second World War.
"Penned by talented local writers and poets, this collection captures both personal reflections and collective memory - and we’re especially proud to share these moving works with listeners on Express FM."
Express FM Content Manager, Harrison RB, said: "We're proud to work, once again, with Caroline and the incredibly talented voices of Pompey Poetry Party. Their enormous contributions to D-Day 80 last year resonated deeply with our listeners, and it's an honour to mark VE Day 80 through the combined powers of radio and poetry."
