It's 5 defeats in 6 for Portsmouth, who fall to 21st in the Championship following a hammering in West London. David Howes provides the match report!
A hattrick of braces from Paul Smyth, Rayan Kolli and finally Richard Kone earned Queens Park Rangers the win at Lotus Road.
The defeat now means that Portsmouth drop down to 21st in the Championship, just 1 point above the drop, with Leicester City only picking up a point, and Oxford United picking up 0.
Not only was it a sixth match in a row without a win, but it is now just four goals scored in 540 minutes of football for John Mousinho's side.
There were 3 changes to the XI that was narrowly defeated 1-0 by Derby County on Monday night.
In came Conor Shaughnessy for his first start since January, while Adrain Segečić and John Swift also returned, with Zak Swanson, Conor Chaplin, and Gustavo Caballero dropping to the bench.
QPR took the lead inside just seven minutes, when a Pompey error allowed Smyth’s looping effort from outside the 18-yard box to fly into the top left-hand corner of Nicolas Schmid’s goal.
Julien Stephan’s side then went on to double their lead, again via a goal from outside the area, as Smyth played in Rayan Kolli, who placed a low shot into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.
Smyth then inevitably made it three and a brace for himself, when former Tottenham academy graduate Kieran Morgan played in the Northern Ireland winger, who slotted the ball under Schmid’s legs.
Pompey did pull a goal back moments before half-time, as the ball fell to Swift from a parried Millenic Alli cross, before the Blues' number eight volleyed the ball into the bottom left-hand corner.
HALF-TIME: Queens Park Rangers 3-1 Portsmouth
Mousinho made one change at the interval, with Colby Bishop coming on, with the newly adopted Croatian under-21 international - Segečić, coming off.
Portsmouth had a positive start to the second-half, first with an effort from Captain Marlon Pack being blocked away from goal, which was then followed by Jacob Brown’s volley at the back post going just over the bar.
It was then a brace for Kolli as well, when the R’s forward flicked the ball away from Shaughnessy, before thumping the ball into the goal to make it 4-1, 55 minutes gone.
After the fourth goal, a triple change came out of the Portsmouth dugout, as Swanson, Caballero, and Chaplin replaced Shaughnessy, Brown, and Swift.
With 15 minutes on the clock, there was one final sub, with the returning Harvey Blair replacing Alli.
It was then 5, when Rangers won a penalty with five minutes to go, with Richard Kone slotting home the spot kick.
The hosts were not done, as they then made 6, with the Ivorian forward Kone making a third brace by a blue and white hopped shirt in double time.
