24-year-old forward Florian Bianchini has joined the Blues on a season-long loan from Swansea City.
The Frenchman featured 38 times for Swansea last term, however 26 of those appearances came from the substitutes bench - he scored 3 goals.
Bianchini began his playing career at Amiens and went on to feature for Bastia before making the move across the channel to sign for Swansea on a 4-year deal last summer.
He has represented his home nation all the way up to Under-19 level.
Pompey's new signing can play on both the left and right-hand side, as well as up front.
Head coach John Mousinho said: "Florian is a really exciting player, who played a fair bit up front for Swansea.
"We see him being used more on either wing, where he can use his pace to take on opponents in one-v-one situations.
"He was also one of the most exciting players in the league for Bastia before he came over here to join Swansea.
"We believe there's a lot that Florian can offer us and we're delighted to add him to our attacking options."
Bianchini featured in both matches against the Blues last season.
He will wear the number 11 shirt at Fratton Park.
