Pompey players pay visit to young patients at QA Hospital

Portsmouth Football Club players and staff took time out from their busy training schedule to visit children at Queen Alexandra Hospital on Monday.

Players visited the Paediatric Department to spend some quality time with young patients on the wards, many of whom will spend Christmas in hospital.

These famous faces came laden with generous Christmas treats and were more than happy to take photographs and chat with the excited patients.

It was clear that all of the children and their families were thrilled to meet the local team and for everyone on the Paediatric ward, this was a very special afternoon filled with football, fun and festive spirit.

Trinity Leigh, Mum of patient Sam Powell, said: “It was very nice that Portsmouth Football Club took time out of their day to come and visit.”

Tracey Morgan, Play Specialist at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “The Portsmouth Football Club always makes time to see the children every year, and their visit is definitely an exciting one!”

Paul Bytheway, Chief Operating Officer at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust said: “We are really grateful to all of the players and staff at Portsmouth Football Club who took time out to visit patients in our Paediatric Department.

“It’s great for the children and helps give our younger patients, their families and the staff who work hard to provide them with the best possible care a much-needed boost at this special time of year.”
