Jake Smith provides insight on the league leaders, Coventry City, who make the midweek journey down to Fratton Park for matchday 11 of the 2025/26 Championship season.
After 10 games, Pompey sit 14th in the Championship standings after 3 wins, 4 draws and 3 defeats and fresh off a good point picked up at Leicester on Saturday.
Matchday 11 has rolled in already and it’s new league leaders Coventry City who will make the journey down to PO4 for action under the floodlights!
MANAGER
Since last November, The Sky Blues have been managed by former Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard.
Lampard is now 47-years-of-age and Coventry serves as his 4th managerial job, having previously been in the dugout for his former side Chelsea, as well as Everton and Derby County, where he began his coaching career.
He has a win percentage of 51 from 45 competitive games in charge of Cov.
ONE TO WATCH
Having claimed 6 league goals already at this early stage of the season, advanced midfielder Victor Torp is our one to watch.
The Dane wears the number 29 shirt and is a physical presence in the centre of the park for Cov but is also able to make late runs behind the defence to get into plenty of goalscoring positions.
It should also be noted that winger Brandon Thomas-Asante has also netted on 6 occasions thus far, however even so, neither of these 2 players can claim to be the club’s leading scorer.
Both players were on the scoresheet for The Sky Blues at the weekend.
TOP SCORER
With 8 goals scored in 10 league outings so far this campaign, Haji Wright takes the acclaim for Coventry’s leading scorer.
The American international, who wears the number 11 shirt for Cov, actually has 9 for the season across all competitions, having bagged once in a 2-1 defeat at Millwall in the Second Round of the Carabao Cup in August.
CURRENT FORM
The Sky Blues are flying high at the top of the Championship and scoring for fun too, averaging nearly 3 goals per-game at this moment in time, having scored 29 in just 10 matches.
For context, the second highest-scorers in the division at this stage are Hull in 10th, who’ve bagged 17.
Frank Lampard’s side are on a run of 10 games without defeat and go into this midweek bout off the back of a 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
Can John Mousinho and his side once again upset the odds and claim a result against the current table-toppers, or will this 3-game unbeaten run come to an end?
Catch all of the unmissable action on Pompey Live from 7pm on Tuesday evening.
Kick-off: 7:45pm!
