Thomas Waddingham came on to score the winner on a wet and windy day at Fratton Park, where the Blues had to come from behind to secure the points.

Despite Jenson Metcalfe capitalising on an early Portsmouth mistake and an Pompey's equaliser before the break, Waddingham’s strike on the 81st minute earned the Blues the 3 points.

The tenth point in four games takes John Mousinho’s side up 11th in the Championship, as Pompey’s run of form now reads four unbeaten.

John Mousinho made four changes to the side that drew 1-1 away at Molineux in midweek.

Zak Swanson, Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, captain Marlon Pack and Marko Milovanović all returned to the XI, while winger Franco Umeh made this first squad appearance of the season on the bench.

It was the visitors who took the lead just six minutes in, when Nicolas Schmid went to play the ball out from out the back, which was intercepted by Metcalfe, who only had to slot the ball home to make it 1-0.

Portsmouth found a reply just 10 minutes later though, when Adrian Segečić’s free-kick right on the right byline flew to the front post, as it deflected off Lyndon Dykes, and fell into the back of the net.

Mousinho’s side then built up some momentum for the remainder of the half, with Kavuma-McQueen beating Tristan Crama on the left flank before teeing up Milovanović, whose header went just over the bar.

HALF-TIME: Portsmouth 1-1 Millwall

It was Alex Neil’s side who caused most of the threat for a good chunk of the second half, though Madiodio Dia was one of many Blue shirts to put their bodies on the line to deny the Lions another goal.

An hour gone, Ebou Adams and Tyrese Shade replaced Segečić and Kavuma-McQueen, with the pair going on to make a big impact for the remaining half-an-hour or so.

Shade fired an effort at goal which was well saved by Max Crocombe, who palmed the ball on the rebound to Marezi, who could not quite find the target.

But Pompey won it late on via Waddingham on his first Championship appearance of the season, when all three subs worked together to create the winning goal.

Adams played in Waddingham, who played a one-two with Shade, before the Australian striker tapped the ball past Crocombe into the bottom left-hand corner to seal the seventh Blues' point in the space of a week.
