Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, Adrian Segecic and Ebou Adams were all on the scoresheet as the Blues collected their first points of the new Championship campaign.
Despite ex-Blues man Reeco Hackett pulling a goal back via the penalty spot, Pompey made sure they kept their ruthlessness in the second 45, adding a third, in order to not lose a lead for the third game in a row.
John Mousinho made three changes to the side that lost on opening day at home to Queens Park Rangers.
In came Benjamin Arthur and Ryan Kavuma-McQueen for their first Blues starts, and captain Marlon Pack, who returned to the XI, for Adams.
Despite Lincoln having the better of the play in the opening stages, it was Pompey who took the lead just six minutes in.
Kamara played a left-footed ball out to Kavuma-McQueen on the left flank, where the 17-year-old dazzled his way inside the 18-yard box before smashing home a right-footed effort that deflected off Tom Hamer, before it fell into the back of the net to make it 1-0.
Portsmouth then doubled their lead a quarter of the way through the first half via last season’s top scorer, Segečić, whose left-footed free-kick flew straight into the top corner of George Wickens’ goal to double Pompey’s lead.
However, the hosts were awarded a penalty on half-an-hour for handball, which former Blues winger Hackett stepped up to send Nicolas Schmid the wrong way and pull a goal back for The Imps.
HALF-TIME: Lincoln City 1-2 Portsmouth
Mousinho made two changes just before the hour-mark, with Josh Murphy and Adams coming on for Kavuma-McQueen and Rocco Robert Shein.
And it was the sub Adams who increased Portsmouth’s buffer to two goals for the afternoon, as the Blues midfielder smashed the ball home from around 25-yards out into the bottom corner to make it 3-1 on the 69th minute.
Unfortunately, Murphy was forced off due to injury, and subsequently had to be replaced by summer signing Marko Milovanović, with just over ten minutes to go.
Josh Knight and Luke Brooke- Smith came on with moments of the 90 remaining, with Kamara and Pack coming off.
