21-year-old forward joins the Blues for an undisclosed fee from Sydney FC.

A 3-year-deal has been agreed with Segečić, who struck 18 goals in the Australian top flight (A-League) last season. The forward recorded an 18-minute hattrick in a 4-1 victory for Sydney FC over Central Coast Mariners as recently as January.

Segečić was born in Westmead, a suburb in Sydney, and is of Australian-Croatian descent. On the international stage, he has represented Australia at Under-17, Under-20 and Under-23 levels but has yet to make his senior debut for the Socceroos.

He becomes Portsmouth's 4th current Australian player alongside Jacob Farrell, Tom Waddingham and Hayden Matthews, his former teammate at Sydney FC.

Earlier in his career, Segečić was trialled at top clubs such as Ajax, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Rangers but came through the youth ranks of Parramatta and Sydney.

It has been reported by Football Fever Au (@FootbalLFeverAu on X) that Segečić was lined up to complete a move to Austrian outfit Rapid Wien, however that fell through and in swooped the Blues.

Portsmouth News editor Mark McMahon reported that Pompey were battling a whole host of European clubs for his signature.

Back on the 28th of May, Segečić provided the assist for Maung Maung Lwin to score the first and only goal for ASEAN All-Stars in a damning 1-0 victory over Manchester United in Malaysia.

Portsmouth supporter Jack Hancock had this to say on X:

Speaking with the club's official media channel, head coach John Mousinho said:  "Adrian is a really exciting young player - one of the hottest young prospects coming out of Australia at the moment.

"He was top scorer in the A-League last season and collected plenty of individual awards, while gaining recognition further afield as well.

"We've already had some success with bringing people over from that part of the world and we hope that Adrian can now make a real impact at Pompey.

"He's very attack-minded and is happy as a winger or in the number 10 role. He's creative and plays with plenty of energy, so we're delighted to have him here with us."
