Portsmouth club captain Marlon Pack has signed a new 1-year deal.

The midfielder's previous contract was due to run out this summer.

Pack, now aged 35, will enter a 5th season with the club since his return in June 2022, when he signed from Cardiff City.

He came through Pompey's youth ranks but left in 2011 to join Cheltenham Town, at a time off-field turmoil continued to spiral and the future of the club was up in the air.

After gaining valuable Championship experience at Bristol City and Cardiff, the boyhood blue came home to play under Danny Cowley - Pack was named club captain following the departure of Clark Robertson.

Since his homecoming, he has captained the side to the League One title, promotion to the second tier and successive survivals.

Last term, Marlon appeared 35 times - 12 as a substitute coming off the bench.

In an official club statement, Pack said: "I'm over the moon to sign a new contract and extend my time at the club for another year.

"I think everyone knows just what Pompey means to me and we've achieved so much together during my 4 years here so far.

"I'm very grateful that will continue and I'll have more opportunities to represent this magnificent football club and our excellent fans.

"What this group was able to do during this past season was a big achievement and now we want to keep building.

"As soon as the final whistle was blown on the last game, you immediately start thinking about how we can continue to improve and really establish ourselves in the Championship."

After the 2023/24 League One promotion winning campaign, Pack was named in the League One Team of the Season at the EFL Awards and crowned Pompey's Player of the Season.

Overall, he has run out 154 times in a Blues shirt and has scored 10 goals.

Portsmouth head coach John Mousinho claimed: "It was an extremely straightforward decision for the club to offer Marlon a new contract and we're delighted that he's signed it.

"He is an integral member of this squad and a massive reason why we both reached the Championship in 2024 and have since managed to remain there.

"His experience - with more than 700 matches under his belt - and reading of the game mean he is as influential off the pitch as he is on it."
