Gunwharf Quays Recognised by Industry Awards

Gunwharf Quays was awarded Silver in the Customer Service Superstar Award category of this year’s Beautiful South Tourism Awards.

The south coast’s leading designer shopping outlet, Gunwharf Quays, was awarded Silver in the Customer Service Superstar Award category of this year’s Beautiful South Tourism Awards.

Organised by Tourism South East, the Beautiful South Tourism Awards aim to celebrate the very best tourism businesses and experiences in the South East.

Gunwharf Quays received the award for its commitment to delivering extraordinary service to all guests. In particular, its efforts to make the centre more accessible and disability friendly. They were not the only Portsmouth winners – the city clearly has a passion for service, with Hovertravel, Spinnaker Tower and the D-Day Museum being winners on the night.

At Gunwharf Quays, the centre has utilised training in disability, diversity and equality awareness to work towards improving the customer experience. They have also made changes on site, including improving signage and increasing the number of lifts, and introducing a weekly quiet hour on Sunday mornings as well as a hidden disability scheme and offer social stories for guests with autism.

Yvonne Clay, Senior Marketing Manager at Gunwharf Quays, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised for our customer service by Tourism South East. Delivering exceptional customer service is so important to us and as a team we work hard to achieve this. Even better, it’s wonderful to have seen attractions in Portsmouth do so well at these awards, recognising how welcoming our city is to tourists and local people alike.”

The centre will continue to improve its service in 2020 and looks forward to welcoming even more customers to Gunwharf Quays and Portsmouth in the new year.
