Will Norris Leaves Portsmouth

Will Norris celebrates 2023/24 League One title victory

Goalkeeper Will Norris has today left the Blues following an agreement with the club to mutually terminate his contract early.

The 31-year-old leaves Pompey after 20 months at the club, having signed on a 3-year deal from Peterborough United in June 2023.

Norris made his league debut for the Blues in a 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers on the opening day of the 2023/24 campaign, during which he would go on to etch his name into club history and help win promotion up to the Championship as League One title winners.

The shot-stopper started in all 46 of Portsmouth's league fixtures last season and kept 19 clean sheets, which resulted in him being named the League One Goalkeeper of the Season. Overall, he made 56 appearances in all competitions for Portsmouth.

He was also considered as John Mousinho's first choice at the start of this campaign but found himself out of the team by the end of October, having been dropped following a 6-1 defeat away at Stoke City.

Norris was then reported to have suffered a minor injury but only featured once in the matchday squad after that - Named on the bench for the Blues' 3-0 defeat away at Blackburn Rovers on January 15th following a knock sustained by Jordan Archer in the FA Cup defeat at Wycombe 5 days prior.

It has been heavily reported that Wycombe Wanderers, who are now managed by former Sunderland assistant Mike Dodds following the departure of Matt Bloomfield to Luton Town, are favourites to sign him up. The Chairboys currently sit 2nd in League One and in a good position to themselves achieve automatic promotion to the 2nd tier come May.
