Marko Milovanović fired in a second half penalty to help Pompey on their way to a second successive Championship win.
John Mousinho’s side climb up to 13th in the Championship following today’s results.
After a solid first 45, Portsmouth capitalised in the second half, as Marezi put away his third goal of the season, since joining in the summer.
It was an unchanged XI to the side that defeated Sheffield United 3-2 in midweek, while Tyrese Shade returned to the squad on the bench in place of Keshi Anderson.
Pelle Mattsson played in Anis Ben Slimane, who saw Nicolas Schmid off his line and decided to test the Austrian from 40+ yards out, but Schmid hardly had to move a muscle to stop the attempt.
Down the other end, Zak Swanson then tried his luck from a similar distance, but again did not really test Daniel Grimshaw in the Norwich net.
HALF-TIME: Norwich City 0-0 Portsmouth
However, the defining moment of the game occurred five minutes after the restart, when Jacob Wright tripped Abu Kamara just inside the 18-yard box, as Gavin Ward pointed to the spot.
Up stepped Marezi, who sent Grimshaw the wrong way from the spot to make it 1-0 to Portsmouth and score his third goal in Blues colours.
Canaries sub Lucien Mahovo got past Jayden Meghoma before playing in Jovon Makama in the middle, but the former Lincoln striker’s effort barely posed a threat to Schmid.
Ebou Adams replaced Iyad Mohammed an hour in, while Odin Bailey and Shade came on for Kavuma-McQueen and the goalscorer Marezi.
Mattson also had a shot from range which hit the outside of the post, but Pompey continued to defend their box and managed to keep the hosts at bay, with a solid defensive performance, most noticeably from Madiodio Dia.
Terry Devlin was the fourth and final sub of the afternoon for the Blues, who sealed the three points in Norfolk, and accumulated the 14th point of the campaign.
