Not for profit event, raising money for the local church and a nominated charity
Bedhampton Summer Show Welcome to your new home from the Show Committee. The traditional Show has been running for over 50 years. It is Havant’s largest annual free entry non-commercial event held on the first Saturday of July at Bidbury Mead, adjacent to St Thomas Church. Teddy bears will bring their families for a pre-Show picnic in ‘Bear Wood’ from 1pm. At 2pm the MC, Wally, will invite the Mayor of Havant to start proceedings: a succession of Arena events surrounded by stalls and side shows together with a brass band to entertain those taking teas. This is not only an invitation to enjoy the Show but also to take this golden opportunity to get actively involved with your community. Preparing, setting up and running the event relies upon a host of volunteers. Gaining new helpers from each generation enables the Show to have continuity and to harness fresh ideas and experiences to ensure we continue to meet the welcome demands of our community. What started out as a Church Fete many years ago has expanded to become a joint event with the wider community. It now offers a host of different ways to suit volunteers of all ages to engage. Funds raised support the work of the church within the local community and a proportion goes to a local charity nominated each year by the Committee.
