An advance warning is in place for road users that a emergency road closure may be in place on the southbound Eastern Road, Portsmouth from the junction with the A27.
The closure would be in place to the junction with Anchorage Road, from 8.30pm on Monday 26 June until 5.30am on Thursday 29 June.
However the closure may not go ahead but it has been arranged just in case, following overnight works last week to fix a sewer pipe. Although Southern Water believe the issue is fixed, they will be carrying out a programme of monitoring over the weekend and if it is discovered any further work is needed they will begin the works on Monday 26 June at 8.30pm.
If this further work is needed fully signed diversions will be in place for vehicles and pedestrians. Drivers are asked to plan journeys in advance and use alternate routes wherever possible.
They are considering a number of options to minimise the impact to drivers and have been working closely alongside Portsmouth City Council to carry out the exploratory work and repair work and they would like to thank drivers and residents for their patience while they have been carrying out this vital work to protect a number of environmentally sensitive areas nearby.
