Firefighters bring pioneering exercise class to Portsmouth

A pioneering exercise class is about to be launched for the over-65s in Portsmouth.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service will be running its ground-breaking 12-week Safety Through Exercise and Education Resilience (STEER) course.

Specially trained firefighters will deliver the classes which have been funded by Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group.

The aim is to provide the attendees with the tools to be happy, healthy and remain in their home safely.

The course builds confidence, reduces the risk of falls, and increases engagement in community activities.

Classes are free to attend and the first will take place on Wednesday, May 17, at Southsea Fire Station.

If you would like to join a STEER course, or refer a friend or family member, please email steer@hantsfire.gov.uk or call HFRS on 02380 626751.
