You'll explore archive material from our collection, find out how to access relevant information in archives and learn how to carry out simple surveys of evidence that may still be found in the local landscape.

The workshop will consider:

•The UK's D-Day connections: A summary of the events and activities connected to D-Day that took place throughout the UK in 1944, and that your local area may have links to.

•Historical research and sources: How to carry out historical research, and some of the main sources that could be useful for uncovering your local area's D-Day connections. These include archive documents, aerial photographs, oral history and more. We will also look at how to research individuals who served in the Second World War.
