The Annual St Valentines Day Massacre X: Tenth Anniversary Friday 10th February 2023 £10 in advance, £12 on the door Proceeds going to Youth Music Doors 7:30pm
The Annual St Valentines Day Massacre (VDM) is back baby!
Since 2013 the Massacre has challenged local bands to open their hearts and cover love songs in support of Youth Music. These brave souls perform earnest, ill-considered, surprising, and occasionally triumphant cover versions of their favourite relationship songs.
A musical potluck of sorts, the acts get 15 minutes each where they can play whatever they want, as long as the songs deal in love, lust or heartbreak.
This year's line up: - Amba Tremain - Fleet Load (Fleetingwood Mac doing something else) - Halliwell - Hoochawakes (The Stayawakes + Hooch) - Mush Bird - Stone Cold Chill Peppers - VDM All Stars - Waif & Stray
This will be the first in person February event since 2020! In 2021 it went online and in 2022 it moved to the Summer for a very special edition entitled ‘Summer Lovin’. In 2023 we return to our annual Feb spot, ten years exactly since our first event. All proceeds go to the National Foundation of Youth Music (www.youthmusic.org.uk). Your donation will give musical education and equipment to children who wouldn't receive it otherwise.
Our last in person event raised £4000 and with your help we’re hoping to smash that total once again. The last few years have been difficult but we’re so excited to see you again and celebrate ten glorious years together. Grab a ticket and spread the word.
We also have the return of the love raffle with some amazing prizes donated by local and independent businesses. If you'd like to contribute a prize please e-mail us at theannualvalentinesdaymassacre@gmail.com
Over the Summer we encouraged you to wear your best Hawiian shirts. This year we’re throwing a toga party! The Wedge will become a Hellenistic love palace for the evening to make you feel like you’ve ascended to the Elysium Plains.
David Mark's from Gosport's Community Cinema, Shona Jenkins from Bird Aware Solent and a new dog initiative, George Stanbury from Waterlooville's Independent Age, Mike Wood MBE from Gosport's Disabled Sailors Association and our profile guest Barbara George from Hampshire WI all on the show!
