Event Summary

A True Crime Trilogy by Austin Stone

After finding an old manuscript of his father's, Ed Stone has transcribed and edited this true crime novel in his memory. Ed lives in Vancouver, Canada and has agreed to share his father’s final stories during a visit to the UK.

The three stories describe the ‘Chicken Run Murder‘ of 1924, ‘The Buck Ruxton Jig-Saw Murders‘ of 1935 and the’ Luton Sack Murder‘ of 1943 with facts, conversations and witness statements from the original crime records to give a sense of the drama and tension these crimes brought to ordinary people.

Austin Stone (1904-1979) was a well known author and BBC playwright in the 1950's and the grandson of William Henry Stone (1834-1896) of Leigh Park Estate/Staunton.

Most of his books and radio plays were based on historically 'True Crime' events and were published in several languages for his overseas readers and listeners.
