
Express FM were delighted to link up with youth volunteering charity V-Involved, who chose to fund Express FM to inspire, recruit and deliver hundreds of volunteer opportunities within radio for 16 – 25 year olds. Our project ran until the end of March 2011.
It was a great opportunity for our station to show our commitment to getting young people on the airwaves and proved a brilliant chance for young people to get their voices heard – what really mattered to them.
Express FM offered young people aged 16 – 25 the opportunity to get involved in radio taster workshops that we called "Radio For Change". We trained them how to plan, make and present their own radio show and then broadcast it on 93.7 Express FM.
Over the three years of the project we worked with over 1000 volunteers and we were able to give out ten V50 certificates, earned by volunteering for over 50 hours. Not an award to be given lightly.
