Punchfunk

The PunchFunk Radio Show was born on the beaches of Ibiza back in 2007. While Simon and Chris were working in Ibiza they were approached by Jay Forster (host of Friday Night In the Mix show back then). They were asked if they would guest on the Live Broadcast from the Radio 1 studios above Café Mambo. As you would expect they accepted and the show was a hit with live mixes from both Simon and Chris followed by an in depth interview all things PunchFunk.

When they returned to England later that year another offer was on the table, to host The Friday Night In the Mix show for 2 weeks. Again the show proved to be a great success with the PunchFunk boys bringing their own twist on how to present a radio show. The shows aired late October and early November and by the end of November Express had decided to give the duo a crack at their own show.

They were given 1am till 3am Saturday night Sunday morning and the original show was called last orders. Within the first year of the show the Boys had built up a cult following to the show and they were promoted to the Prime Time slot on Saturday night 9pm till Midnight.

Speaking to Simon he goes on to say, 'The next stage for the show was awareness so myself and Chris went about getting headline mixes from some of the world finest dj’s this coupled with a flyer campaign really boosted our listening figures'. Speaking to Chris, 'We wanted to build a show around the core of what PunchFunk is all about, which is Good Quality Underground Music'.

Now into 2011 the show is going from strength to strength, with a Dj competition lined up in February and a whole host of fresh International guests with quality mixes and sound bites this year promises to add to continued success of the The PunchFunk Radio Show.
